Next stages consist in adding layers and nuances to the material:
If so far the studies have dealt mainly with physical tasks, the coming stages of the research will move towards the territory of interest of this research project: the dialogue between movement of the body and movement of thought.
Practicing Reasons to move : how do I keep interested in what I am doing?
Beginnings / Interruptions : where does a beginning reside and is interruption a new start?
Subjectivity / Habits : what are my tendencies?
Overcoming habits / Practicing ways to rephrase set material : sourcing ways to keep material alive
The dancer builds a broad palette of tools through instructions concerned with the above. With attention to non-organic combinations of different tools (organic= light + upwards + slow VS inorganic= light + downwards + fast) the dancer attempts to create moments of incoherency or confusion. The moment of decision/change is focal, it being the moment of awareness (“one needs to know what one is doing in order to do something else”).
When awareness of the tools allows for more elements to be consciously combined, the dialogue between movement and thought becomes complex and can generate glitches in the attention of the mover.
What is that?
How do I see it and register it?
What happens when I get too good at the task?
How do I confuse myself?
